In response to the unanticipated situation of Coronavirus Outbreak (COVID-19), two of our largest partners – DBS and OCBC banks are now offering favorable approaches to support BBCIncorp’s clients and customers.
DBS Bank is now opening bank accounts digitally, which allows our clients to get their corporate accounts without any flight to Singapore like before.
All required documents do not need to be certified. After documents have met all criteria, they can get their bank account after 2 weeks.
Along similar lines, OCBC Bank also gives further assistance to Singaporean companies with online account opening. This is another supportive approach in addition to OCBC’s policy for the bank account’s remote registration that we have mentioned earlier. Note, however, that all required identity documents for online submission must be notarized by Embassy/Notary Public/CPA to get the bank’s approvals.
A simplified three-step process will be 100% online done as the following:
- Complete the online application form, along with the required documents
- Arrange a video call with the bank
- Fulfill all relevant documents (if any) and open your bank account

It appears to be common that people can feel unsafe when having to arrange an in-person visit or branch application for opening a bank account, especially in a “sensitive” period of Covid-19. With online account opening options, clients can now conveniently and quickly own a business account even when they are staying in their home country.
